Here is a little information from Loras Archivist Michael Gibson about Hoffmann Hall on the East side of Loras College.
He mentioned:
In lieu of sending an entire history of St. Joseph Hall (now Hoffmann), I will send the “bare bones”---unless you want additional detailed information.
- 1878 Original building (which does not remain today) constructed
- 1884 east wing added
- 1902 west wing added (still remains)
- 1909 auditorium and chapel constructed (remain today)
- 1982 re-named Hoffmann Hall in honor of Alois & Mabel Hoffmann (owner of Hoffmann Mortuary) large benefactors of college
- 1986 demolished entire east wing—reused some of the stone work and pillars in new construction
- 1987 newly constructed east wing dedicated
