Irish breakfast with tea

Some of your food will be covered, some won't, depending on how much you like to eat & drink. If you are one of those people that get "hangry", don't be cheap, make sure you have some food and keep EVERYONE happy.

Approximately $20 per day has been budgeted per student to cover some meals, e.g. when we are all out on a group excursion, and it's easier just to get a "group lunch".

This won't cover all the food/snacks/beverages you may want. Most of the time you'll be eating in restaurants, and while tipping is not required (but this is changing), it may be built into the bill, especially if it is a fancier locale. Just so you know, meals typically range:

  • Breakfast 5-10 euro (esp. if you like your pricey coffee)
  • Lunch 10-15 euro
  • Supper 15-30 euro
  • Beverages 5-8 euro per drink

NOTE: you can save yourself some money by going to a local market and picking up snacks, bottled beverages, etc. or just bring a water bottle and fill it up in the hotel in the morning.

NOTE: the hotel may have a breakfast (typically a "grab & go" which means a granola bar, yogurt, fruit, and hot beverage), but it's not guaranteed.
