First Week - Spring 2019 semester in Ireland!!

After an all-night flight from Chicago, we made it to Dublin and tried to settle in. We landed, got our luggage, and took a van to the apartments in Sandymount, a neighborhood south of the Liffey about 3 miles from City Centre. After a short break to clean up a bit and unpack a few things, we walked to the DART (commuter train) station and headed to City Centre. You've got to keep moving the first day to get used to the 6 hour time difference! the iconic Ha'Penny bridge
The "bridge" photo is of the Ha'Penny bridge - it was originally built to allow pedestrians to cross the River Liffey for just a "half-penny" toll (otherwise you were taking a boat).

Below are a few more of the sites around City Centre in Dublin - you are obliged to take your photograph at these places :)

James Joyce near the Dublin Spire off O'Connell St Molly Malone is just off Grafton St
You have to honor perhaps one of the greatest writers of the 20th Century, James Joyce. And it helps if you learn the lyrics to Molly Malone

One of the 1st Irish 'Rock n Roll Heroes' Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy fame. Here is Grafton Street in the evening (it's one of the more 'upscale' shopping markets in Dublin)
