The original structure of the cabin was build in the 1920s as a "hunting/camping" lodge. My grandfather Niclo B. Hitchcock bought the property in 1937. He always hoped to have his own place to "get away" so he could hunt & fish.

Grandpa Niclo was a traveling salesman, and sold welding equipment for the Smith Co. During the summer, he would drop off my Grandma Lena and her two sons, Robert (Bob - my dad) and George (my uncle) off at the cabin, where they would stay without a car since Niclo would be off selling during the week.

My dad really loved the place - he loved the simplicity of it, the nature, the quiet... This is the place we always went for vacations when we were growing up.
