What I am familiar with: The concept of knowing why you get up in the morning or in other words, your goals. The cocept of knowing your purpose in life.

What I'm not familiar with: The concept that an unexamined life is not worth living. The golden circle, which ask you What, How, and why.

Background on the values of, "The Good, The True, and The Beautiful": This concept asks you what is good, true, and beautiful in your life. They are transcedental values that are not contingent upon cultural diversity. They are not religious properties but human concepts.

Catholic Intellectual tradition: The best way to understand this concept is to split up the words and breakdown each one. A catholic is a person who follows the way of jesus. The word catholic has three main elemets: sacramentality, mediation, and communion. Intellectual comes into play because when you expose people to intellectual concepts like truth and reason their lives will be improved. Finally, we have tradition. Tradition is not just written text and documents but it's a whole way of thinking, expressing, and acting.

The person I will discuss is St. Augustine. St. Augustine represents the most influential adaptation of the ancient platonic tradition with christian ideas. He is a champion of human freedom and an articulate defender of divine predestination.
